Race day is a week away! I’m nervous and super excited! I really have no idea what I’m in for, but anxious to find out. Since this is my first half and pretty much first big race ever, I am definitely a newbie and not as hardcore as others.
So I’ve heard that it may be beneficial to run with some time of energy gel or “fuel” for an extra boost mid race. I’ll be trying out Gatorade’s Cool Blue G Series Energy Chews. I didn’t have much time to test them out, but didn’t have any tummy upsets when I tried one today.
As for race day playlist, I’m sticking to my usual “The Killers Live From The Royal Albert Hall” Concert CD. It’s not your typically workout music, but feeling like I’m at a live concert keeps me pretty pumped. It’s the only thing I’ve listened to since I started running again this summer.
As for what I’m wearing, this week I’ll be checking out the weather, so I can plan my race day outfit!
I “worked” yesterday, so couldn’t do my run in the morning. Today I jogged 6.8 miles with the bf. So glad he joined me. It was nice being able to chat with someone and enjoy the scenery. I planned on doing a longer run, but decided to let my hip decide. As soon as it started acting up, I slowed things down and shortened the distance. I’d rather baby it this week, and then tough it out on race day. As for the rest of the week, a few short runs, and pretty much just trying to take it easy.
Let the carb-loading commence!
